Reconnecting to the Source
searching for the love that was severed
allergic to the word that describes
my allegiance being tethered.
Watching others bound by their faith
waiting for the common moment that unites us
everyone dancing around their disgrace
scared and hiding behind their God-lust.
Examining the difference between a belief
and the way that society twists it
all the while, wondering if I’m in too deep
if the answer was there, but I missed it.
What is truth, what are our origins, what does our future hold?
each question desperate, each answer bold
every culture needs to be controlled
so the church responds, “It has been foretold.”
Right versus wrong drifts across my mind
the distinction religions all teach
though every religion believes they’re “right”
so how can they be believed?
Religious by default, religious to the core
these things some people claim
but their actions don’t always match their words
as they live in their savior’s name.
Why is it that at some point,
all societies adopt a religion or create one?
are we so incapable on our own,
that we must worship a heavenly son?
What happened to our conscience, where have our ethics gone?
even with religion, wars break out before long
we claim to love Jesus, and sing his earthly song
In God’s name we fight, in His name we drop the bombs.
Death should be a celebration, for the homecoming that it is
yet we mourn and grieve our losses
as if this earthly life were it
though life is just a voyage, materialistic, we sink our own ships.
Crossing the line of the theoretical
engaged by the person of the fire
I reflect upon the astrals
knowing, those who play this game will tire.
One day we’ll reach infinity, we’ll synchronize with the earth
we’ll clean our house of religion
realizing our purpose at birth
until then, I’ll try to resonate, and recognize this world’s worth.
